The fall of the fall season...two generations deprived of competition

Time for a change of pace. A little birdie told me this is to be our last 18 & over fall season. From now on the 40 & over league will dominate the fall. Anyone want to throw any early predictions out on any of the fall leagues.  As usual 4.0 is full and will likely be devided into three flights. The 4.5 looks like the usual suspects with a few bump-ups from mid year ratings. Probably should include the 3.0 and 3.5 guys since the league disorganizations merged into one organization. I know am looking forward to playing in the cooler temperatures this fall after having a busy summer. Any comments regarding the future of the fall leagues are welcome.

  1. Actually from what I understand, here is what USTA has planned:

*All leagues would go to a 10 week season + playoffs (2 weeks)

*40+ league would run from January -April(a spring league)

*USTA trying to turn 40+ into a major league nation wide

*40+ will increase to five lines (2 singles-3 doubles) with nationals now included along with sectionals.

*40+ Sectionals and Nationals would not conflict with any other USTA league.

18+ adult leagues would run from April-July (becomes a summer league)

*USTA wants league to end just a few weeks before sectionals so that winning teams don’t have to wait 1 ½ months to play sectionals after they finish the season.

*Negative thing is that there is not a USTA sanctioned league for any one under the age of 40 between January-April.

*All fall leagues would run from August –October/November.

*Because of the new formats for league start dates, Mid-Year ratings will become obsolete and probably go away; only End of Year ratings will be necessary.

*Senior (50+ and 65+)leagues would move to the fall.

*Sectionals and Nationals for 40+ and 18+ would be the only thing being played in the fall other than the senior leagues.
